Minor League Player Traded for 10 Bats...

I couldn't remember this guys name or anything but when I was watching First Take today on ESPN 2 they interviewed a minor league baseball player that was traded for 10 bats...  This is disgraceful.  The guy said he had never even played yet this season, and he didn't even know somebody could get traded for equipment, but he heard of players that got traded for food.  Either this dude is a serious scrub or he gets no respect.  In the interview though, he made humor out of it, which I thought was good instead of being depressed.  However, I think that you shouldn't even be allowed to trade players for equipment, or any other possession.  Seriously, something is wrong with the minor leagues, or major leagues since they own minor league teams.  The front offices need to do something about this because this is down right cruddy!!!

HSAs

So Im finally done with the HSA's!!!  Here's my opinion on them:

--I think that the teachers hyped it up way to much, even thought it does determine if you pass/graduate.  They said there was at least 8 BCRs and 3 ECRs on each, and it wasn't even that much.  Some tests had more than others, but they were all spread out so it didn't really feel like much....and they weren't even hard questions.

--I also think that the time went by faster when I was taking that test than when I sat there trying to sleep for the extra 20 minutes.

--The breaks were too short

--The easiest test was gov't, then English, and then Bio

--The English had the dumbest BCRs and ECRs.  Bio just had harder ones.

Well that's what I think of them.  Hit me up with what you think or just answer that poll question!

Double-amputee Gets to Compete in Olympics

If you haven't heard already, the double-amputee sprinter Oscar Pistorius won the right to compete in the 2008 olympics.
This is a huge topic; people are in favor of it, and others are not. The people in favor of it say that it's only moral right to let him play, or that if he is able to compete against the world-class runners involved in the races, there's no reason why he shouldn't play. However, the people against this decision also have reasons. They could say that it is an unfair advantage since he has prosthetic legs, so he doesn't get tired as easily, and they don't have to go through as much training as able-body competitors. But those are some reasons I have heard on TV and read about this issue. I personally thing that they should allow him to compete. Think about his mindset. He has to motivate himself to actually run, and to not think about what other people say/think. We all know how people can be in this world, especially to disables. I say let him compete, and I'm glad he's getting that opportunity. Let me know what you think, if you agree or disagree.

Reflection

This Saturday I heard Ray Lewis was gonna be up at Dick's to promote those new Under Armour kicks, the new Prototypes, so I had to go.  When he came out, instead of signing autographs, taking pictures with people, and just promoting the shoes, he gave a speech that was more life-changing and made me think about what I was doing.  He was talking about how you must work hard to be great, not good.  He said that good will get you remembered for a short time, but being great is a lot of good things put together, and that will get you remembered for a long time.  If you want something that bad, make it your lifestyle because in order to get something, you must sacrifice another.  Now that got me thinking a lot.  During the school year, I always do my best in the first quarter, not just because it's the easiest, but because I work so hard in soccer, that it just carries over to my school work, and once the season ends and I start to chill and get lazy, my grades get lower.  I realized I'm not putting in the effort to do as well as I can in school because I wasn't putting effort in what needed to be done.  I also realized that I need to get in great shape for varsity this coming season, so I decided that I was going to begin working out hard, and focus more on school that hanging with my friends or wasting my time playing xbox and watching tv as much as I did earlier in the school year.  I think that readers can relate to how I was feeling, so I decided to post it.

Nick Cannon is the man!

For everybody that doesn't know, Nick Cannon married Mariah Carey!  Nick Cannon is a lucky man for this because as we all know, Mariah is fineeee!  And before he got Mariah, last year he was with a Victoria's Secret model.  Big ups!  I'm proud of Nick and Mariah and hopes this lasts for them.
